Barry Nash Memorial

The Barry Nash Hurling Memorial is fast becoming the highlight of the College sporting year. Yet again we were treated to a feast of hurling in the sunshine. All games had a one score margin and the final was as good a game as seen in many years. Scariff looked like they were going to blaze a trail through CCR in the opening game. Scariff held a comfortable 7 point lead at half time. CCR produced a second half display worthy of the occasion and were beaten by the minimum after a siege on the Scariff goals in the second half. In the second semi final, Colaiste Phobal defeated a well organised Killina side in Ballyskenagh.

In the shield final Killina defeated CCR again by the minimum in a game played in the spirit befitting of the tournament. The final was a magnificent game. Colaiste the eventual winners in extra time. Scariff pushed them all the way and played their role in a 3-18 to 1-22 classic. Thanks to the referees and volunteers. The teams served up a tournament worthy of the memory of Barry. We are indebted to the Nash family for their support of the event
