On Tuesday evening 26th February 2019 , the Cistercian College Senior Irish Debating Team continued our proud public speaking and debating history by securing a well-deserved win in the Díospóireacht an Phiarsaigh 2019 Regional Semi-Final, qualifying through this stage alongside with the girls of Kilkenny College. Our boys were blessed amongst women in this round and were the first team to take to the floor, with Jacob Faughnan taking the lead speaker position.

With Cian Quinn and Manus Heenan following on strongly, the Cistercian College team showed in depth knowledge of the subject matter and confidence in our arguments as Gaelige . Notably the team were commended on their strong arguments and witty rebuttals! This round took place in Kilkenny College and our boys saw off tough competition from the Ursuline Convent Team from Thurles and also St. Leo’s College from Carlow.

The Cistercian College team now move on to the Regional Finals in Dublin in mid-March.
