Science Week 2018

This year National Science Week was held from the 11th – 18th November. Both 1st and 2nd years were in attendance in UL last Monday at the Xtra-Ordinary Science Show which was aimed at students of Junior Cycle Science. Topics such as Forces, Digestion, Acids and Bases and Energy were brought to life in a fun and engaging way.

On Wednesday 14th all 3rd years participated in the ‘Crystal Drop’ workshop also in UL. This involved making a device which would protect 5 sugar cubes from smashing when dropped from a height. The 3rd years took to the task with gusto and came up with some ingenious solutions to the problem. It is intended that attendance and participation at Science Week events helps to develop and nurture an interest in Science.
