South Leinster Athletics Championships

CCR had an impressive haul of 12 medals in the regional championships. This event is spread over 2 days with Minor and Junior on day 1 and Inter and Senior on day 2. There were many star performers over the 2 days in the CCR singlet.

On the track Darragh Loughnane won Inter Gold and Bronze (200M &100M) to emerge as the dominant sprinter of the games. Lorcan Mullen continued his impressive season with a bronze in the 800M.  Our Inter relay team of Ben Murphy, Diarmuid Kilgallon, Lucas Culliton and Darragh Loughnane won an incredible relay gold.

In the field Sean Frawley got reward for his hard work coming away with a Junior Gold and Bronze (Discus and Shot). The surprise packet of the championship was Callum MacEntire who won the Minor discus in his first entry. Paddy Sheeran won our only pole vault in the Junior competition with a silver. Michael Gill secured gold in the Junior Triple jump, his first time competing. Thomas Martin also won in the sand with a bronze in the senior Long Jump. Harry Rigney threw well to win bronze in the Shot as did Jack Egan who worked hard all season in a tough intermediate competition.
