Willie Mullins returns to Cistercian College

Cistercian College were delighted to welcome past student Willie Mullins back to the
College after 25 years along with Aintree Grand National winning horse, “ I am Maximus”.

The leading British and Irish trainer of 2024 was in high spirits on his returning visit to
his Alma Mater. The student community, staff and some special guests turned out to
meet and greet the extraordinary trainer on his return. The Monastic Community
consisting of Fr. Aodhán, Dom Malachy and Dom Laurence of Mount St Joseph
Abbey suspended their daily activities to also share in the celebrations. He was
presented with a wonderful genesis piece of the Children of Lear to mark his return
to the College and was later honoured in the College Hall of Fame where his contribution to racing was unveiled.

Director of Admissions at Cistercian College, Séamus Hennessy commented:
“It was a wonderful day for us all at the College and there is a real spring in the step
of all of our staff and students now at the College as we near the end of another
academic year. It is always great to welcome past students back to the College. It
was not the first Grand National horse to come and visit, two years ago we were also
delighted to welcome Emmet Mullins back to the College with Grand National winner “Noble Yeats”.
