The IFTA Film and Drama Awards took place at Dublin’s Mansion House last Thursday night, with Saoirse Ronan, John Connors, Victoria Smurfit and Liam Cunningham taking home awards. Everyone who was anyone was there including President Michael D. Higgins. One of our own, John Hand from the class of 1983 won the IFTA for Production Design for the fantastic film “Maudie” which screened in the Galway Fleadh last July. Well done and well deserved. Fr Dermot would have been very proud of one of his star pupils.
